PKT2228-154416 JAMES HANRATTY 1962 James Hanratty will be escorted from the condemed cell at Bedford Prison today to begin a second fight for his life. “Ginger Jim”, 25 year old convicted killer, will walk 75 paces past cells containing the jail’s 178 other prisoners, to a distempered interview room. Across a scrubbed oak table he will confer with the members os his legal team who are considering an appeal against his death sentence. Waiting for the report on the prison talks will be Michael Serrard, 34, the defence counsel who almost collapsed in the stuffy, over crowded Shire Hall court room on Saturday night when the 11 man jury pronounced their verdict.
